About Me
Hello! My name is Jordan Henes. I am a 20 year-old aspiring high school social studies teacher with an intense passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion. I found myself falling in love with teaching and education for countless reasons, but primarily because of the phenomenal educators I was in proximity to. Both of my grandmothers were teachers and their passion and dedication to their students was awe-inspiring. Prior to college, I developed an almost familial bond to a particular English teacher. It was her unconditional kindness, generosity, and patience for every single person that entered her classroom that was the deciding factor in my choice to pursue education.

Intern at Parkway School
Jan 2022 - April 2022
Parkway School is a K-8 school in Watauga county. During my experience there, I was an after-school intern for my Psychology Applied to Teaching class. I had the opportunity to tutor the after school kids and design a lesson for them. During this internship, I learned more about the virtues of patience and communication than I could have ever imagined.

Education
My Studies
Green Hope High School
August 2016 - June 2020
My high school education at GHHS was undoubtedly very enriching. It was this school that sparked my love and passion for teaching with the assistance of my incredible teachers. I participated in multiple extracurriculars such as color guard & Scholastic Open Class varsity winter guard, varsity indoor track & field, clubs such as the True Equality Alliance & Women's Empowerment club, student government, and National Honor Societies, including the National Social Studies Honor Society, which I founded.
Appalachian State University
August 2020 - December 2023
My college education at Appalachian State University was unique. During my time at App, I had the privilege of receiving two scholarships: The Diversity Scholarship and the Reich College of Education Scholarship. I earned both of these scholarships due to my dedication to fair and equal education for all. This can be exemplified through the free tutoring services that I provided at the Student Learning Center. ASU was a phenomenal place for me to grow into the professional I am today.
